Collateral Ideas - These are my observations derived from research and extensive work experience and related to the divorce process in general. Being based on a skewed sample of divorce cases and extending beyond the area of my immediate expertise, they are by definition biased and not applicable to everybody. Still, these notes show the ways in which things can go wrong and may help someone make a better decision in the divorce process. Proceed with caution.
Time it takes to get divorced and reasonable behavior of the "other side" are the two expectations which are seldom correct.
Even when seemingly successfully accomplished, a DIY divorce may result in considerable losses immediately following the judgment or/and long after it.
